Adolescent Counseling/Therapy
The adolescent brain is developing SO much. There is no wonder they have so many ups and downs! They are discovering who they are as individuals and where they fit in the world. Having a person outside of the family to talk with is so beneficial for them.

Our approach with adolescents is very open and accepting, while providing the guidance they need. They are guided by their parents, but children are more resistant to their parent telling them “what to do”. We want to help you build a better relationship with your child in order for them to grow and flourish the way they deserve.

We use a Psychodynamic approach with Cognitive Behavioral and Behavioral Therapy techniques. Those two techniques help modify current and past thinking patterns and behaviors to be more effective and rational. Your child will learn effective, positive coping skills and ways to regulate their emotions. Sessions can also help with learning:
-
Effective Communication
-
Organizational Skills
-
Good Study Habits
-
Social Media & Technology use
-
Sleep Hygiene
-
Time Management
Adolescents want and need love and attention more than we realize and than they would like to admit. The push back they give does not always mean they actually want to be left alone. Let’s figure out what will work best for you and your child by working together towards a common goal.

Counseling/Therapy for Young Adults
The young adult brain is continuing to develop and change. Being human, especially in today's society, is not easy! Going into young adulthood can be especially challenging as they navigate all of the change and continued brain development. Young adults are typically transitioning out of high school, out of a job they have been at, or even out of college and into the workforce/real world. Regardless of where they are at, it is likely they are navigating and managing a lot of new responsibilities and changes. This is a time they may need someone to talk through their current and upcoming changes with.

Similar to other age groups, our approach is to meet our clients where they are at. Young adults are guided by parents/caregivers, teachers, and other adults throughout childhood and adolescents; then, high school graduation or the end of traditional schooling arrives and a lot changes. This is where we come in to help navigate these changes. We use a plethora of Evidence-based Therapeutic techniques to help our clients navigate the biggest transition of their lives, including:
-
Effective Communication
-
Organizational Skills
-
Good Study Habits
-
Social Media & Technology use
-
Sleep Hygiene
-
Time Management
Young adulthood is the time some individuals are looking to find love, repair a relationship that has been ruptured, are learning to better communicate with friends or family members, or they are learning to work alongside others at a job. During this time of life, it is important to have someone to discuss their thoughts, wants, desires, needs, and options with.

Adult & Older Adult Counseling/Therapy
As humans, adults are forever changing and navigating life on a daily basis. Every day brings change and experiences. Talking through these changes and experiences is highly beneficial. When we schedule adult sessions, we meet one on one for the first appointment for anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. The main goal of each session is for them to leave feeling better than when they arrived. The first session will be their time to tell us the following:
-
Current issues, stressors, symptoms, or behaviors
-
Their strengths, weaknesses, and desires
-
Brief “synopsis” of childhood, teenage years, and young adulthood
-
Family relationships
-
Substance/Alcohol Use history
-
Accomplishments & Future goals
We take a Psychodynamic and Behavioral approach when assessing adult clients. This means looking at underlying emotions (both positive and negative) that come from life experiences. They will educate us on how they manage their emotions, cope with stress, and communicate with others. They can tell us what has or has not worked for them (ex: some people do not like to meditate). Every individual is unique and complex; therefore, it is key to learn what approach will work for each person while working with us.
We work with individuals experiencing depressive symptoms, a range of anxiety symptoms, life transitions, relationship issues, family dynamic issues, work-related problems, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADHD), and short term goal making for personal improvement and growth. We also do a great deal of parenting work.

Couples Counseling
Couples counseling (also known as therapy or marriage counseling) is just as important as individual therapy. Navigating relationships and addressing day to day challenges can be difficult to do on your own. Our intern, Carlie, provides couples counseling that focuses on addressing relationship challenges in a safe, neutral environment where both partners can openly discuss issues. She will help couples identify patterns of interaction, resolve conflicts, and build healthier ways of connecting. You can expect to work on improving communication, learning conflict resolution, rebuilding intimacy and trust, learning tools for ongoing challenges, and preventive support through learning about "check-ins" and strengthening the bond of the couple.

Couples counseling is often short-term and goal-oriented, with sessions focusing on practical skills and insights. It can significantly reduce relationship distress, increase satisfaction, and provide lasting tools for cooperation and resilience. It's most effective when both partners are committed to participation and change.
